Inner Monologue
This week is about inner monologue.
Have you ever talk to yourself? Like while you wandering in the food court, should I eat this? Or should I eat that? Or while you driving? I take PIE then exit at... I observe my mum talk to herself while she plans her route and my colleague talk to themselves while they troubleshooting the system. As for myself, I talk to myself in my heart just that I didn't speak out from my mouth.
I didn't think much about inner monologue before I come to reading this book, is like you won't think so much while you seeing other drinking milk, As I'm seeing adult talk to them since I was a child.
Now spend 2 minutes to watch this video, the goblin in Spider-Man.
The scene of green goblin in movie Spider-Man talk to himself, the devil part of green goblin advocated to revenge to Oscorp's board members by showing them power, he also point out that Spider-Man is the only treat that they have, and so, the devil in Norman win and this make Norman want to be the green goblin.
Inner monologue affecting our decision without our aware. So this brings me to my exercise.
My exercise for this week is quite busy, as I need to write down my inner monologue in my note app, and I realise that I got quite a lot, it almost in every few minutes or even few in a minute. I don't know about you guys, but I even ask myself for should I go toilet? Some of my inner monologues are "let's finish this then go toilet", "Is lunch time, message my girlfriend see if she like the lunch box of the day", "Omg, raining? Really? why not later?".
After a week of noting down my inner monologue and read though, I found myself positive, thoughtful and repetitive inner monologue in particular time of the day, and yes, I have to agree that most of my decision making are come from my inner monologue.
I used to think that I know myself, but not that perfect until I complete a week of inner monologue exercise. There is a sentence by Sun Tzu, 知己知彼,百战百胜; if you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the results of hundred battle.
So this is my path for the leadership, week 2, knowing better of myself- inner monologue.
